Adult Weight Loss

Weight loss is a goal for a large number of people worldwide. At any one time, just in the United States, over half of the population wants to lose weight and almost a third are in the process of losing weight via some form of weight loss diet.

But, here's the problem -- over 95% of efforts to lose weight fail no matter what weight loss diet is tried.

What's worse is that weight loss efforts are strongly correlated with gaining weight. The more money spent on weight loss, the more overweight the population becomes.

In the early 1980s Americans spent about $10 billion on weight loss and about one third of the population was overweight. In 2006 the losing weight expenditures were over $60 billion and more than two thirds of the population was overweight.

So what is going on? Well, starting around the turn of the century individuals and companies have seen the opportunity to make money from people's concern about weight. Therefore, rather than focusing on the true nature of human physiology, the weight loss industry has dreamed up gimmick after gimmick to promote as the best way to lose weight. The problem is that none of these gimmicks work and, in most cases, they actually make the problem worse.

What's needed for people to reach and maintain their perfect weight is an understanding of the fundamental and unchanging truths about the physiology of weight loss -- not gimmicks.

That's the purpose of the weight loss articles listed below.
